Italprogetti, Drying and purification, new patents

ITALPROGETTI, whose core business is the tanning division, keeps on heavily investing in green technologies, aiming at creating new low environmental impact plants that the markets are demanding

ITALPROGETTI, based San Romano (Pisa) and founded in 1977, is ready to launch important news. The company, whose core business is the tanning division, by virtue of technical and engineering skills managed to be renowned both in Italy and worldwide. The president Mario Serrini, whom we interviewed in September on the Tanning Tech Show, draw up an economic balance and told us something about the next year’s programs.
“We have several projects in the pipeline for 2022 – said engineer Serrini – as we are developing new technologies for leather drying and for the purification and treatment of fleshings and residues; we are ready to file two new patents. We are working a lot according to the ‘green world’, also in the R&D phase, in particular on the LCA (Life Cycle Assessment), concerning the carbon dioxide absorption, but we’re also designing machines able to effectively responding to the new needs of the market. According to the regulations, we are already a long way ahead: we take care of the bureaucratic steps, which too often slow down investments and growth.”
The pandemic emergency still represents an unknown factor on international markets. “The biggest problem – admits the president – concerns travel limitations. Going to China or Asia in general is still difficult, considering the forced quarantines. The truth is that the direct contact with the customer is essential for our business. The Industry 4.0 project has significantly boosted all technologies and work, so we hope to take advantage of the incentives for a sufficiently long period of time and to be ready when the economic restart will occur globally. However, we are positive: we boast loyal customers worldwide, so in these two years we have worked despite the situation; even what we have done in Europe leaves us satisfied.”
Tanning Tech’s balance sheet is positive. “It went quite well – concludes engineer Serrini – even if not comparable to the February 2020 edition or to the previous ones, it exceeded expectations. Therefore, the decision taken in Assomac to set this exhibition was right, also because our French friends set up the show in Paris almost on the same dates: giving up Milan would have been a mistake and a not positive signal. On the tanneries side, they assured us that they have had many visits, and all the big names were there. We do not bring machines to the fair, as we manufacture very large machines and plants; when customers are interested, we invite them to our headquarters to show the production plants and then we accompany them for a tour: there is nothing better than to show the real plants on site.”
