Mission in Ethiopia of Deputy Minister Sereni who visited a group of companies of the leather sector in the capital Addis Ababa

Important mission in Ethiopia, in the first days of March, for the Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marina Sereni, who visited one of the offices of LOMI, a cluster of companies for the processing of leather in the Goro area, on the eastern side of Addis Ababa, the capital of the African state.

This center currently hosts four laboratories that have been equipped thanks to the assistance of AICS (the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation) and other partners, including UNIDO (the United Nations Organization for Industrial Development), the Ministry of Industry and the Institute for the Development of the Leather Industry.

During her visit, the Deputy Minister underlined the importance of the project and its objectives, namely to concretely promote “women empowerment” (the cluster has a network of ten female businesses) and increase employment in the leather sector through an upgrade in terms of quality and quantity of the finished leather. During the mission, Sereni also appreciated how LOMI is today a network of female businesses with shops selling quality products in Addis Ababa, and is growing promisingly by strengthening relations with foreign markets in various European countries, including Italy, which has since ever privileged relations, even on a commercial level, with Ethiopia.
