Conceria Nuvolari, development goes through sustainability

The line Nature-L® developed by Conceria Nuvolari, which is metal-free, biodegradable and compostable, is enriched with a new washed item, certified respecting the environment

“Exclusive know-how. Metal free. Biodegradable and compostable ISO14855 and ISO20136. Durability certificate equal to traditional leather. Certified compliant for color fastness and resistance to stress. Certified suitable for dry cleaning. LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) for environmental impact. This is the identity card of the Nature-L® product developed by Conceria Nuvolari starting from 2018 and gradually perfected in the name of sustainability. As a matter of fact, the company, based in Monte Urano (Fermo province) and specialized in the production and marketing of sheep and goat skins and other top-quality hides, used mainly in the
footwear, leatherware and apparel sectors, is among the forerunners in experimenting the lowest environmental impact tanning process. The technique developed excludes the use of hexavalent chromium, takes advantage of the smallest quantity of heavy metals compared to average, and is able to make leather biodegradable and compostable while enhancing its traditional nature. At the latest edition of Lineapelle, the tannery led by entrepreneur Sara Santori enriched its portfolio by presenting a preview of a new washed item: “We have” “increased the metal free, biodegradable, compostable and carbon neutral Nature-L® line by introducing the product Aviator,” Sara Santori explains.
“The new leather certified according to the features of the Nature-L® range is destined for the winter 2024 clothing and accessories collections, therefore it will be in the limelight at Lineapelle in September 2022. It has already been tested and is ready for sampling, however we still have to develop the full range of colors and thicknesses for the different uses.”
To neutralize the carbon footprint associated with the entire life cycle of the Nature-L® line products (calculated from an LCA study conducted by the Milan Polytechnic), the Marche-based company has so far supported four international carbon offset projects in partnership with the non-profit organization Rete Clima (www. reteclima.it/aziende/nuvolari/).
Since June 2021, Conceria Nuvolari has achieved the status of Benefit company, which has formalized its commitment to make sustainable choices on leather processing methods and on the management of greenhouse gas emissions derived from business operations. The change of name certifies the company’s willingness to produce social and environmental benefits simultaneously with the achievement of its profit goals.”
