S.C. Costruzioni Meccaniche, Hairpress and Cleandisc, to be cornerstones

S.C. Costruzioni Meccaniche, which specializes mainly in production for tannery machines and purification plants, keeps on focusing on models in high demand in the Italian and foreign markets

Hairpress and Cleandisc. These are the two models, showcased at the Milan Fair during the Tanning Tech Show, held September, on which S.C. Costruzioni Meccaniche, based in Empoli (Florence) continues to focus. A company working on the Italian and foreign markets since the mid-1980s, who design, build and install auxiliary plants and equipment for several industrial sectors, especially tannery machines and purification plants.
“From our range, which is very well stocked,” Roberto Calattini, at the head of the company, together with the other partner, Fabio Scardigli, told us at their stand, “these two machines continue to be the top-of-the-range, which is why we decided to re-propose them, since they are highly demanded on the market, which have given us and continue to give us substantial guarantees at the Italian and international level, so we believe in proceeding along this path. Ours series is already very complete and able to meet the needs of customers, especially with regard to hair recovery equipment and disc filters.”
“The Hairpress filter,” Calattini points out, “is a self-cleaning machine that has been specifically designed to separate the hair from liming baths: the characteristic of this filter lies in dehydrating and compacting the retained material thanks to a system consisting of a specially shaped rubber cone, which we have patented. Instead, the range of Clendisc microfilters, also boasting one of our patents, represents the evolution of an extensively proven machine, namely the rotating disc filter, conveniently modified to make the maintenance of filter nets easier and faster.”
During the 2022 edition of the Milan show, the biggest requests from operators were about energy savings. “In fact, we have noted a generalized concern,” admits the owner of S.C. Costruzioni Meccaniche, “also due to the fact that it is not clear what the future evolution of these prices will be, although the hope is that a decrease may be registered soon. However, we are optimistic, also due to the fact that we have guaranteed orders until the summer of 2023, which in these times is honestly no small matter. Tanneries account for 80 percent of our turnover, the remaining 20 percent concerns mainly textiles, plastics and paper, sectors in which our plants are required and used.”
Finally, here is the concluding report of the Tanning Tech show, particularly on the presence of foreign operators, a significant aspect given that for the Tuscan company, exports account for 30 percent of total sales. “At this show,” concluded Roberto Calattini, “we did not see Asians, while there is growing interest from South Americans, an area of the world where we have been working well for some time, while the European market is stable. We are satisfied with the Italian market: we, being based in Tuscany and being renowned in the tanning hub of Santa Croce sull’Arno, are registering an increase in contacts in northern Italy, especially in the Arzignano district, which is also very well structured.”
