D-Air Lab WorkAir, the airbag that protects in activities with the risk of falling from a high structure

When the work activity exposes the worker to the risk of falling from a high structure greater than 2 meters with respect to a stable surface, it is necessary to implement preventive measures and, before each operation is carried out at a height, whether it is lower or higher than 2 meters, the employer must carry out an assessment of the risk of falling from a high structure by choosing the appropriate protective safeguards. D-Air Lab, the Vicenza-based, a company recently created by Lino Dainese, has entered into a new collaboration with the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza (built by Andrea Palladio in 1580) where the first airbag in the world for the protection of workers at height was used by a French actress during her performance on stage. Always committed to body protection in sports, D-Air Lab has designed new widerranged applications of D-air® technology and created WorkAir, the first PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) certified airbag in the world for the protection of workers at high structures.

On the occasion of the 75th Cycle of Classical Performances at the Olympic Theater, the D-air® airbag technology has arrived on stage, highlighting the importance of protection from occupational risks which is spirit oriented towards the future and innovation. The airbag technology has dressed the protagonist of a theatrical work with this protective device equipped with an unprecedented system in the world of PPEs: a system that is able to detect a fall in 40 milliseconds and inflate the airbag when necessary protecting the chest, back and vital organs from impact. Lightness and comfort guarantee the primal factor of this technology. WorkAir was designed using the concept of a structural bag: the airbag bag is not inserted into another garment, in fact it has all the elements that guarantee its function. This makes it extremely light, comfortable and ergonomic. Unique in its kind, it appears optimal in different scenarios of usage. In fact, WorkAir protects both from a minimum height of 1.2 meters when worn over the clothing normally used, and (starting from 2 meters) from the worker swinging against structures underlying the work surface with the possibility of being worn under the harness.

Thanks to the creation of increasingly sophisticated airbags for safety, the protection mission has gone beyond all limits.
