Bergi, a blue ribbon at the Milan Fair

The ‘Italtannery Project’, involving important companies in the tanning sector, was presented at Simac, at the stand of Bergi: 6 brands are concerned, but may be more

‘Italtannery Project’ is the name of one the new ventures presented at Simac Tanning Tech, held in the second half of September at the Milan fairgrounds. The official launch, with the presentation to the Italian and foreign markets, took place at the stand of Bergi, a company based in Arzignano (Vicenza), boasting almost 60 years of history (it was founded in 1965), a leader in the sector of machinery for the tanning industry. The outside walls Bergi’s stand were covered with illustrative images, and the giveaway of leaflets and brochures about the project took place during the exhibition. The launch at the fair also took place simultaneously at the stands of the participating companies, who also covered their outside walls with the Italtannery Project theme, as well as distributing information material.
Six companies were involved, all from Vicenza, except two, I-Tech and Hüni: Bergi, with both Bergi and the Bertech brand (whose core business is dedicated to automation), Erretre and Fratelli Carlessi, both from Arzignano, and Ger from Montecchio Maggiore, a city of the leather district.
“We have been working for about a year and a half with the owners of the founding brands,” confirms the marketing and communications manager, Leonardo Bergozza, the youngest son of the CEO Mauro, who is also Vice-President Assomac, “and now we have decided to launch it at the fair. It is not a product, but a project, created together and strongly supported by Erretre and Ger, and open to other companies that want to participate, a new way of interpreting the development of tanning technology that, in order to grow as rapidly as sustainability requires, needs to be shared by several parties. The aim is to consolidate fundamental values to guarantee customers increasingly better performance in products and services: the ultimate goal is uncompromising quality, better performance, experienced people, care for the environment, logistical efficiency and excellent value for money. A paradigm of values put into system by the companies taking part in the project to provide increasingly reliable answers, placing the client companies firmly in the world of tanning excellence.”
“We have created a good and solid working group,” Leonardo adds, “which includes a nice variety of products and interesting and innovative future developments. Together we will try to reach a very advanced level, where everyone will be able to bring their qualities and experience into play, trying to create a complete idea of processing, especially with a view to product traceability and energy saving. The major work to be carried out will be the collection of data from machines in production to increasingly optimize operations, as well as creating databases that are useful to clients for traceability, sustainability and repeatability of production. As far as the timing is concerned, we are currently in an embryonic and exploratory phase, but after having officially presented it, now begins the new phase that will lead us to put our forces in the field to get the first concrete results.”
The last issue pointed out by the young marketing and communication manager, concerns the year to come. “In 2024 there will be important news, one of which is a machine, currently being analyzed and tested at a local tannery, and we will promote it soon, considering that data are good. Another highlight will be the belt buffing machine, model 3200, presented at Tanning Tech 2022. After having tried it on site, in the testing area of the new warehouse, it is now at work, in a tannery of the Arzignano district: at the beginning of September, we carried out some inspections, from which we have confirmation that everything is going well. This machinery is destined to go into production soon because the results are very good, by virtue of precise and clean buffing, as well as the possibility of keeping a very high work rate: quality and efficiency is what the market demands.”
