At the Eurocongress Syn-Bios Spa boasts the Zdhc level 3

On the occasion of the international event, hosted at the Vicenza Fair, the chemical industry based in Montebello Vicentino Syn-Bios presented its technological excellence in terms of quality and sustainability

SYN-BIOS SPA, a chemical industry that has served the tanning industries all over the world for 35 years, was among the leading companies of the EuroCongress 2022, hosted at the end of September at the Vicenza Fair. The company led by the Gastaldello family, led by the progenitor and founder Daniele, for over a decade supported by his son Enrico, presented some series of top products to the international audience represented by entrepreneurs, managers, technicians and professionals: the innovations on display stood out in terms of qualitative performance and sustainability, as all are fully compliant with ZDHC MRSL v.2.0.

The goal of reducing the clothing and footwear industry chemical footprint, gradually eliminating hazardous chemicals and going towards the implementation and dissemination of sustainable chemistry is the mission of ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals). This is an international program that has undertaken Greenpeace’s challenge, that of eliminating and replacing the restricted substances of the list called MRSL (Manufacturing Restricted Substances List) from the entire production chain. Fully sharing ZDHC’s vision, SYN-BIOS achieved level 3 certification in 2021, as a concrete demonstration of the constant commitment to environmental sustainability in all processes and products. Being compliant with MRSL level 3, the highest level in the current program, means that certified chemicals meet ZDHC guidelines and their use ensures a more responsible management of item manufacturing processes.

“At the EuroCongress – explained at the stand Dr. Giulia Fontana, technical director of the company – we wanted to set up the presentation of those SYN-BIOS products already featured in the catalog and fully registered on the ZDHC Gateway at Level 3, which we recently found to be interesting for professionals. We showcased the the following ranges: INK FOR LEATHER SPRAY®, our inks for dyeing leather in the finishing phase; METAL-FREE, pigments microdispersed in water, specially selected to make metal-free leathers, according to the definition given by the UNI EN 15987: 2015 standard; SYN-CAR®, water-based pigmented pastes, designed to guarantee the utmost resistance in the automotive sector; NIR TECHNOLOGY, pigments microdispersed in water, the nature of which is based on the technology of the sunlight spectrum reflection in the near infrared, intended for the automotive sector; SYN-FLU®, totally “formaldehyde-free” fluorescent pigments. Our offer met great praise, given that the current market demand is precisely focused on items that require the use of these types of products.”

What final balance can you make of EuroCongress 2022? Are you satisfied with your attendance and with the topics discussed? “Given the variety of subjects presented and their complexity, in the tanning world there is a tangible, wide interest regarding the search for new products, to reduce their impact on the environment and on human health. Since its foundation, our company strategy has always been actively based precisely on these values, through prudent choices we reap the benefits of.”

What are your prospects for 2023 according to economy and the market? What will be the main news at SYN-BIOS’? “We are convinced that the path taken so far – joining the ZDHC program and letting all our products be fully compliant with Level 3 MRSL v.2.0, – is the only winning strategy for a future that actively focuses on sustainability. We are confident our products will be increasingly used on both the Italian and foreign markets, because this is a really sustainable choice in terms of both environmental sustainability and care for human health.”
