Bicap, made in Italy between innovation and sustainability

The link with the past creates value, if properly developed: Giuseppe Battaglia, Bicap’s Italian Sales Manager, tells us about news and strategies during the latest edition of Safety Expo.

After all, the Made in Italy label is nothing more than a system of values designed to create a perfect union between the past and what is projected into the present and towards the future. According to this philosophy, many innovative companies have made such label their innovative character. Like Bicap, which boasts a long footwear tradition and, for over forty years, has been successfully sharing it with people around the world. Product quality, a highly professional staff and technological innovation are the cornerstones on which the company works and the values on which it has built its reputation.
What news did you launch at the fair?
“The latest news we launched is the innovative Stelvio S3 Hro Src model. A shoe made with an upper in soft breathable fabric printed with an automotive concept, equipped with a sole boasting Michelin- technology rubber tread specially designed to guarantee high resistance through wide grooves that provide excellent evacuation of liquids and high grip and flexibility. Ideal for both indoor and outdoor use.”
How important is the Made in Italy today?
“The Made in Italy label has represented our corporate identity since 1979, the year of birth of the Bicap brand; it has always been our strength on the international market and let us stand out worldwide for the high quality of our footwear in terms of safety and comfort.”
What feedback did you get from your customers and from new ones (if there were any)?
“Our shoes have met a great success and we welcomed numerous customers and new potential customers at our stand at the fair. They were considerably interested towards the quality and innovation of the raw materials used for the design of our footwear lines. All characterized by our know-how acquired from our long footwear tradition that boasts 3 generations.”
Can you tell us how you deal with the issue of sustainability?
“The theme of environmental sustainability represents our daily challenge: to make respect for the environment coexist with the high standards that have always characterized our company philosophy. Thanks to the commitment of our R&D department, it has been possible to create footwear featuring excellent levels of recycling, through the use of TexPet fabrics and the integration into an eco- compatible production process without the use of polluting solvents that takes advantage of solar energy. We reduced the CO2 emissions from our photovoltaic plant by 218,000 kg.”
What is the research focused on and what are the current trends in the sector?
“Current market research is increasingly oriented towards the use of eco-friendly raw materials able of promoting environmental sustainability without giving up a sporty and casual style even in the workplace. The latest trends in the sector concern the creation of light and comfortable work footwear, equipped with specific characteristics that facilitate the worker by reducing physical stress.”
