Coats Opti, Zips perfectly matching with health and sustainability requisites

Coats Opti zippers, with antiviral and low environmental impact treatments, perfectly respond to the needs of current times.

The laboratories of the MNC (multinational) company Coats constantly work to further develop possible options and treatment technologies designed to project Opti hinges with an eye towards future and to achieve standards that are in line with the growing interest of the fashion world in safe and sustainable final products, as it now happens in any sector.

The latest Coats Opti product, ProtecV, is a zip with antiviral treatment able to withstand domestic washing: tests carried out after 30 washes at 60 degrees reveal that the antiviral charge is still 99.9% effective. This is the world’s first range of zippers based on HeiQ Viroblock, an innovative Swiss technology that combines advanced silver components with a particular cross-linked material that protects from microbial contamination.

In addition to an excellent antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and its validity tested against SARS-CoV-2, this treatment helps prevent deterioration of products. The antimicrobial finish, in fact, creates an inhibition zone that prevents the development of odors and bacteria, a possible cause of stains around the zipper.

The PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) treatment represents a substrates’ technology -employed even in the Swiss company Rolex for black watches cases- useful to the deposition of metal films on different types of and covers the new Coats Opti steel sliders. This finish, resulting from a physical process, grants aesthetic characteristics along with much more resistance compared to normal galvanic processes. Furthermore, it grants an extremely more sustainable, hypoallergenic coating with a lower environmental impact. PVD processing, in fact, does not require the use of water and implies less energy without releasing substances into the atmosphere.

In the context of sustainability, in addition to the tested EcoVerde zip line, there is the “#piantala campaign”: for each air conditioner installed in the Coats Opti offices, the company undertakes to plant two trees. An important contribution to the protection of our planet. www.coats.com
