Escomar aiming for the future with the PCR-e8 sammying machine

At the Milan trade fair, Escomar presented its new through feed sammying machine for wet blue leather: compared to previous versions, it boasts a higher drying power that ensures greater performance

It is called PCR-e8 the venture for the future of Escomar, based in Arzignano (Vicenza province) and specialized in the production, overhaul and trade of new and used machines for tanneries. During the September 2023 edition of Tanning Tech, the Veneto-based company presented its new through feed sammying machine for wet blue leathers, which, compared to the previous versions, features a higher drying power that ensures greater performance.
“It is an 8-cylinder machine,” Mariano Ferrari, Sales Manager of Escomar, explained to us at the stand, “which is currently the most powerful press on the market. This model relies on hydraulics only for the drying pressure, while the transport is electric and controlled by an inverter, which guarantees savings of up to 50%. This type of machine was requested by the clients themselves, and is able to meet the specific market demand, especially in terms of energy savings. Among the improvements made to this model, designed to work at high speeds and thereby obtain considerable production advantages, in addition to energy savings, there are other noteworthy performances in terms of drying (possible thanks to the four powerful independent pressure bridges controlled by the hydraulic unit), low acoustic impact (again the lowest on the market), an improved spreading system and modern software with a simple and manageable interface that allows access to the various work functions also remotely.”
According to data provided by the organizers at the last trade fair in Milan, there was an increase in the number of foreign operators compared to the previous year edition, although the levels of the pre- Covid period have not yet been reached. “Our export quota is very high,” adds Ferrari, “so we are always careful about international dynamics, not only economic. China is still a mystery as it’s not clear what’s its plan: the situation is not stable and above all it is not clear what direction it may take in the future. In fact, we saw more than a few China nationals at the Fair, we hope that their return will be a good sign.”
For the Sales Manager of Escomar, the 2023 edition of Tanning Tech had a mixed result. “As always, the fair reflects the market trend, which in the second half of 2023 is on hold, also due to a number of non-economic factors, primarily the war in Ukraine and other tensions at international level. This stand-by situation is not only a problem in the world of tanning and tannery machinery, but of the economy in general: all this has led several companies to slow down or suspend investments, especially in machinery, in other words they are waiting at the window to see what happens. In our opinion this will not be short-lived, while as far as 2024 is concerned, I think the trend in the first half of the year will remain basically the same, I will be happy if I am wrong. More realistically, the positive outlook possibly concerns the second half-year, but of course we cannot be sure of that. In the meantime, it is necessary to operate carefully and be present on the market, possibly launching important new products as we have done this year.”
