Guardolificio Tre Bi, the evolution of the welt – spotted at Lineapelle

At Lineapelle, Guardolificio Tre Bi renews its role as leader in the made- in- Italy production of welts for shoes able to satisfy every single need

“The thick, robust, bold welt is back in the stylistic limelight. The new trends focus on color, but black and white remain the real protagonists. Rhinestones and chains reappear,” says Sandra Peron, owner of the family business Guardolificio Tre Bi, together with her father Saverio, at the latest edition of Lineapelle. “The rubber welts, despite the constantly increasing prices of the material, is the best-selling, in great demand compared to the leather ones.” Today, the market seeks for products that differ in sustainable materials and processes. Hence the need to focus on the search for components – from glues to dyes – less and less impacting from an environmental point of view, in compliance with the specifications imposed by the big brands. “If, on the one hand, the demand for green products increases – underlines Sandra Peron – on the other, this request does not actually occur: a biodegradable sheet costs twice as much, while a recycled sheet costs 30/40% more than a traditional product. These prices are still out of the market and most of the time they push the customer to give up a more conscious and sustainable choice.” Among the rich collection of models and variants intended for shoe processing, the Goodyear welt to be used in combination with the namesake shoe processing method is once again gaining interest after a long stop recorded especially in the pandemic period: “Elegant men’s footwear is back on the scene thanks to the possibility of organizing events and weddings again. A positive sign that contrasts the penalizing effects of the crave for sneakers.” The entire production process of the leading welt factory in the sector takes place in Italy, in the plant based in Cornuda (Treviso province), where technological innovation and specialized personnel carry out an efficient, flexible production at competitive prices.
