Industrie Chimiche Forestali, a new photovoltaic system

Industrie Chimiche Forestali SpA’s commitment to the environment goes on, ensuring a responsible use of resources and consumption control, in compliance with the principles of energy saving and sustainability of the production chain

Being in line with ESG (acronym for Environmental, Social, Governance) means taking the right path to ensure a future for your business. The issue has become so relevant that it is perceived as a competitive element of the market: the commitment of each company to grow can no longer ignore the environmental, social and governance issues that this duty implies. The efficient and strategic management of the available resources certainly ensures the expected results. These considerations lie at the basis of the projects aimed at the production and in-house electricity control recently carried out by Industrie Chimiche Forestali S.p.A, international reference point in the design, production and marketing of low environmental impact adhesives and fabrics with high technological features destined to the technical and luxury footwear, leather goods, automotive and packaging sectors. The Group is listed on the Euronext Growth Milan market of the Italian Stock Exchange and is strongly committed to respecting the values of sustainability and ESG principles, topics now at the center of the public discussion as essential for everyone’s future.
Over the years, ICF has achieved the most relevant certifications in the chemical and business sector, such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and EMAS. The company also joined the Responsible Care program with Federchimica since 1997. There are several products that have obtained the GRS certification, that is the international standard that identifies their creation through the use of recycled materials. The third edition of the Sustainability Report was also recently published, released spontaneously and without any obligation.
Aiming at intensifying the use of renewable sources, ICF has signed a contract with Samsø S.p.A – Energy Service Company (E.S.Co.) for the construction of a photovoltaic system – able to fulfil 30% of the company’s energy needs – and for the installation of an electric charging station available for company personnel vehicles.
The plant will be built in the third quarter of 2022: 777 monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules with a power of 460 kWp will be installed on the roof of the production plant in Marcallo con Casone (Milano). The project will improve the company’s carbon footprint by generating an annual reduction in atmospheric emissions equal to 75 TOE (Tons of Oil Equivalent) and 163 tons of C02. The innovative photovoltaic system will produce approximately 404,000 kWh per year of renewable energy; 92% will be used for self-consumption and the remaining part fed into the grid.
