Pranem Adamantium, the upper for “Armored” footwear

Abrasion resistance, lightness, customization. The peculiarities sought today in work and mountain footwear. Adamantium is the application that meets them

Work shoes, like mountain shoes, are often “heavy”, having to respond to safety needs and severe conditions of use.
This contributes to fatigue and reduced comfort. The search for increasingly lighter but at the same time high-performance materials is unceasing. Adamantium offers the possibility of having extremely high abrasion resistance, as it uses lighter fabrics and eliminates the application of protective materials, usually sewn to the upper. In this way, it is possible to avoid the use of particularly high-performance and expensive fibres, transforming even a normal polyester fabric into an “armored” version.

Adamantium is an application of “plates” directly on the fabric of the upper. The peculiarity is its resistance to abrasion: over 8000 cycles according to the UNI EN 388:2019 Part. 6.1. These plates are positioned very close to each other, but leave a space through which transpiration is maintained. In this way the total breathable area is higher than when plastic material is sewn onto the upper, as it inevitably covers the entire surface of it. An aspect that should not be underestimated is the possibility of carrying out the application based on drawings, i.e. tailor it based on the customer’s needs. In this way, in addition to protecting the areas most exposed to abrasive action, the aesthetics of the shoe is enhanced.
