Schimd, innovation and creative reuse

We could define Schmid’s participation in Lineapelle as a three-day of events. At the fair the company, specialized in the production of fabrics and semi-finished products for high-end clothing and accessories, presented a collection full of textile research and tactile and visual suggestions, the result of a philosophy open to encounters, experimentation, knowledge, and a vision projected towards sustainable development. Guests at the stand, in shifts of small groups, were the Brera Academy students of the Textile Culture course (second level diploma in Fashion Design) held by Professor Livia Crispolti, who participated in the project for the reuse of stored fabrics started by the historic brand in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts. The idea behind this initiative was born from the desire to promote the reuse of slow-moving items, transforming
the problem of “end of piece” and warehouse inventories into the opportunity to give new life to fabrics, through the ability of young creative minds with a particular predisposition for the visual arts to reinterpret a textile proposal. The first selection of the designs was put in the limelight: extraordinary creations, very extreme and outstanding, that captured the attention of the operators for their strong inspirational charge. Lineapelle was also an opportunity to reward Marco Sartini’s loyalty to the historic company based in San Giuliano Milanese (Milano province): “Our agent for Tuscany celebrated fifty years at Schmid,” says Valerio Baiardo, CEO of Schmid. “This is why we gave him a three-liter bottle of ‘Grappa Maschio Prime Uve Gold’ with a silk-screened dedication right here at one of the most important events in the sector.”
