The sustainability according to Tacchificio Villa Cortese

FheelGreen and FheelBio® BCA. These are the latest projects created by Tacchificio Villa Cortese – a Parabiago company specialized in the production of heels and shoe components – protagonists on the scene at the latest edition of Lineapelle. Two parallel product lines, traveling inseparably towards innovation and sustainability, whose shared goal is to find the correct balance between two closely related components: attention to the environment and product durability and quality. “If FheelGreen is now officially an industrialized product line, FheelBio® BCA is a product in the company portfolio, but still in the implementation and market launch phase,” Giulio Cardamone, Quality&Sustainability Engineer at Tacchificio Villa Cortese, explains. FheelGreen is a material for heel molding that combines improved static mechanical properties compared to traditional ABS with significantly better sustainability performance. It is characterized by the use of fewer resources (energy, water, etc.) in production and transportation, it is 100% recyclable, identical to the traditional ABS, in terms readiness for finishing processes (lacquering, electroplating, bonding), dimensional stability, and surface quality. “Like FheelGreen, FheelBio® BCA aims to replace traditional ABS,” Cardamone continues. “A goal that we believe is possible because it is a bio-circular-attributed material, whose share of the sustainable parts is derives from organic waste. Given a certification based on mass balance, achievable with the same types of production as traditional ABS, compared to which it has no significant differences in terms of process costs: the only differential cost is related to supply. Our hope is that a supply chain approach will be established that is aware of the importance of using a bio-circular-attributed material, also in light of the fact that the performance from an aesthetic point of view is identical to that of classic ABS.” In essence, TVC is able to affirm that FheelBio® BCA is the alternative with the lowest environmental impact indicators to traditional ABS. A new ISCC+-certified biocircular attribution material that can be used in a flexible and transversal way on any type of heel thanks to its sealing and performance characteristics comparable to those of the standard product. It is a non-pure solution, but partially or fully derived from renewable hydrocarbon blends, which approaches sustainability with an innovative methodology. The share of sustainable material derived from the sourcing of organic waste material is allocated through mass balance and tracked throughout the supply chain thanks to the respect of the chain of custody. Meaning, everyone involved in the processing of the material is provided with an ISCC+ sustainability certificate that guarantees both traceability and the percentage of raw materials used. The FheelBio BCA® solution produces fewer atmospheric emissions, reduces energy consumption and wastewater generation.
