Syn-Bios Nir Technology

SYN-BIOS SPA answer to the automotive tanning industry’s need for sustainable technological innovation.

The Montebello Vicentino-based company, a leader in the chemical industry and partner of the tanning industries around the world, recently launched its IR reflective pigments on the market, specifically targeted at the automotive sector. That’s the pigment series NIR TECHNOLOGY, based on the technology of reflecting the near- infrared spectrum of sunlight (NEAR INFRARED, hence NIR). This line joins the well-established SYN-CAR® and METAL-FREE series to integrate the offer for pigments for the automotive industry.
As a matter of fact, the items made with the NIR series are perfect for this sector, as they do not absorb near-infrared light, thereby keeping in check the rise in temperature of pigmented surfaces.
Usually, dark pigments absorb the sun’s radiation and thus heat up much more than light pigments, which instead reflect up to 90 percent of sunlight and remain cooler.
The near-infrared zone, which is part of the solar radiation spectrum and is invisible to the human eye, is responsible for the increase in temperature of surfaces exposed to light. Sunlight, which is absorbed more considerably by dark colors, is transformed into heat energy resulting in a rise in temperature. Items made with NIR TECHNOLOGY pigments do not absorb near-infrared radiation, but, on the contrary, reflect it, so they do not lead to overheating of the surface as happens in the case of using a color that is not IR reflective.
This ensures greater comfort in the car’s upholstery and a lower increase in the temperature of the passenger compartment, resulting in energy savings for the vehicle’s cooling. We can therefore state that the pigments of the NIR TECHNOLOGY range also fit perfectly into the perspective of environmental sustainability, precisely because of the lower energy input that is asked in cooling the passenger compartments of cars and because of the durability of the finishing, which experiences less deterioration than articles made with non-IR reflective pigments.
Moreover, the NIR TECHNOLOGY series fully meets the requirements of ZDHC’s MRSL v.2.0 as it is certified at its highest Level, Level 3. SYN-BIOS SPA is constantly and actively committed to the realization of products that do not impact the environment and human health, in full agreement with the principles behind ZDHC’s “Road map to zero” program, whose goal is the eradication of hazardous substances from the entire supply chain to protect workers, consumers and our ecosystem.
