Tacchificio Villa Cortese, sustainability as a development strategy

Tacchificio Villa Cortese is a virtuous company that promotes a sustainable growth model featuring a high added value for itself and its stakeholders

Making the world a better place through heels. This is the path taken by Tacchificio Villa Cortese towards the implementation of the sustainable development goals set out in the UN 2030 Agenda. The 17 objectives define a new model of society, according to greater responsibility in social, environmental and economic terms, aimed at avoiding the collapse of the ecosystem. And in this frame, everyone can do something. For the company, specialized in the production of heels and shoe components, sustainability is a philosophy that embraces the entire structure and turns into a development strategy. It is the highest form of respect towards stakeholders and moral responsibility, even before being objective, towards future generations.
The Parabiago district heel factory has always been committed to pursuing sustainability in all its areas – environmental, social and economic. To improve its environmental performance, the company starts from the features that characterize the Italian production: the quality of the product, designed and built to last over time; the traceability and the production, entirely carried out in Italy; a low-impact and low-waste production, thanks also to preventive optimization tools that allow preliminary digital transposition; packaging that minimizes the generation of waste. Finally, the guarantee of a sustainable production process powered by a geothermal system and a photovoltaic system that meet about 70 percent of the entire energy needs.According to TVC Group, a prerequisite for sustainability is innovation: following the paradigms of Open Innovation, Tacchificio Villa Cortese works to enhance, stimulate and spread ideas and knowledge both internally and among its stakeholders. The status of Innovative SME obtained in 2020 attests the innovative core of the company activity and the technological direction undertaken. The new idea of well-being linked to the concept of sustainability also involves personnel management. Employees are the most important asset of Tacchificio Villa Cortese. TVC 2030 was launched for them: it is an in-house training course aimed at increasingly focusing on people. This project was intended to let the skills of individuals grow with a focus on a shared vision, on mission and corporate values and on improving soft skills in order to perform at their best in individual and team daily activities. It was also conceived to improve the management of the state of mind, of interpersonal relationships and emotions in the personal and professional sphere.
Attention to the life of the community and the territory is expressed instead through sponsorships of sports and youth clubs, initiatives undertaken to respond to the Covid-19 emergency, investments in the education of young people, the protagonists of the future. Passing down the know-how is essential to ensure continuity for SMEs. Hence, TVC Group is at the forefront in organizing School-Work Alternation and Simulated Training Enterprise projects; it is also committed to orientation courses promoted by local associations and post-graduate Higher Technical Education and Training.
Finally, to help reduce the carbon footprint on the environment, Tacchificio Villa Cortese has created, in collaboration with Treedom, its “corporate forest” counting 250 trees in Cameroon which, in addition to producing oxygen and promoting biodiversity, will support communities premises involved in the initiative.
