Wortmann Group, Acknowledged as one of Europe’s largest footwear production and distribution companies, the Group based in Detmold has installed the largest connected rooftop photovoltaic system with self-consumption in the region: another initiative aimed at fostering ecological responsibility.
Wortmann Group’s steady commitment to social and ecological responsibility has resulted in several significant, and very successful, investments in on-site projects and activities aimed at improving the corporate performances concerning sustainability and environmental safeguard.
As confirmed by the installation of the largest connected rooftop photovoltaic system with self-consumption in the region, whose surface amounts to almost 7,000 sqm., provided with high-quality glass-glass modules – the latter very durable and designed to absorb solar energy from both above and below, thanks to their double-sided glazing. The benefits, both in the short and in the long term, guaranteed by such a system are multiple, including a marked decrease in CO2 and pollutants emissions up to a higher energy efficiency.
The Group’s engagement and environmental awareness are perfectly embodied also by other initiatives, some implemented with the support of the employees, starting with the addition of a new bike pool so as to avoid using cars for short trips. On the other hand, product-wise, several brands of the Group have managed to launch sustainable capsule collections on the market; worth mentioning also the significant investments in the design and manufacturing of vegan shoes and the growing interest in recycled materials.
